Méthodologie au dialogue

Hey!

Today, we worked on the dialogue methodology to prepare your homework.

First, we focused on the particularities of the dialogue in English (as opposed to the French one):

Then, we worked on some helpful tools when writing a dialogue:

To finish, you recaped all the verbs you may use to introduce cues on a new sheet entitled ‘Les verbes introducteurs de dialogue’

Here is what you wrote:

Les verbes introducteurs de dialogue :

To shout = To yell = to scream (= Crier)
To answer = To reply (–>replied) (= Répondre)
To say (–>said)
To lie (= Mentir)
To explain
To add (= Ajouter)
To whisper = To murmur (= Murmurer, chuchoter)
To beg  (–>Begged) (= Supplier)
To warn (= Avertir)
To ask = To inquire (= Demander)

First Date: The characters’ feelings

Hey!

Today, you worked in small groups on one character and you had to focus on his / her feelings / attitude in the extract:

– Vivian

– Vivian’s mother

– Joey

Then, one volunteer from each group came to present the different adjectives (+ the corresponding quotes to justify your answers) to describe each character. Here is what you found:

Then, we corrected your homework about pronouns and synonyms. Do not forget to use the right prompts to answer:

– The pronoun X refers TO….

– The synonym FOR Y is Z.

Hw:

– Faire la fiche lexicale ‘Conflicts’ et la compléter à l’aide des adjectifs de sentiments nouveaux.

First date: What about?

Hey!

After a short vocabulary test, we corrected your homework: you had to sum up the text.

Here is what you said:

There are four characters : Vivian, her parents and Joey who is Vivian’s boyfriend. The scene takes place in Vivian’s house. Joey has a rendez-vous /a date with Vivian on Saturday night. They will go the cinema. However, Vivian’s parents disagree with Vivian’s going to the cinema: they don’t want her to go out because Vivian is too young = she is only 16 (years old). Consequently, Vivian is mad because her parents refused and annoyed because it’s her first date. So, she disobeys her parents (= she is disobedient), lies to Joey and finally goes out.

To be written by Youcef.

Then, we corrected the second part of your homework (‘What about’ in detail)

1) You found the exact quotes corresponding to the different events in the text.

2) You deduce the right order of events.

Here is the complete story:

Vivian is arguring with her mother because she disapproves of Vivian going out with a boy because she is too young. So,Vivian’s mother leaves the room to end the conversation. Then, Joey calls Vivian. Vivian is not telling the truth when she says to Joey that her parents allow her to go to the cinema with him. Vivian tells her parents that Joey will drive her to the cinema. Consequently, Vivian gets dressed for her date with Joey. When he arrived, Joey introduced himself to Vivians’s parents. Yet,Vivian’s parents didn’t say anything in front of Joey but don’t seem to appreciate Vivian’s attitude.

To be written by Jenaston.

Hw:

– Recap: WH- questions.

– Faire l’activité 3): Pronoms et synonymes.

Dating: Global Comprehension

Hey!

Today, we first corrected your homework about feelings to recap the different drama exercises done in class. Gérault and Jenaston were very good teachers!

Here is the correction:

Then, we started working on a new text. While reading it for the first time you had to use 4 different colours / highlighters to underline information related to the following questions: WHO? WHERE? WHEN? WHAT ABOUT?

Here is what you found:

Actually, since we didn’t have time to write a complete summary of the text using the main elements, you will have to do it for next monday!

To be written by Abraham.

Hw:

– Apprendre les adjectifs de la feuille par coeur.

– Surligner tous les verbes irréguliers non sus.

– Faire le résumé du texte à l’écrit (sur feuille à rendre) en reformulant les idées principales.

– Activité sur le ‘WHAT ABOUT’ à faire.

Giving recommendations…

Hey!

Today we started the lesson with a last drama exercise to revise the different feelings we had studied the previous lesson.

Then, we corrected your homework: The father / mother finally allowed his / her daughter to go out with her friends for her birthday, but he / she is still worried so he / she gives her some recommendations before she leaves:

Here is what you said:

Obligation.

You have to be careful about men.

You must have protected sex –> I want you to have protected sex.

You must drive slowly.

Interdiction

I forbid you to make tatoos and to drive a car without your licence.

You mustn’t drive fast –> I don’t want you to drive fast.

You can’t come back home too late.

You mustn’t come back home alone.

By Abraham.

Then, you focused on the different expressions of obligation and interdiction used in the correction and you classified these forms in a grid.

Hw:

– Apprendre les expressions de l’obligation et de l’interdiction + Faire la fiche grammaticale

– Faire la fiche lexicale sur les sentiments.
